Dan Brown, executive vice president and president of American Tire Distributors’s Tire Pros franchise program, will retire June 30 after more than 40 years in the tire industry.

ATD’s chief marketing officer Ron Sinclair will replace Brown. Sinclair has led ATD’s marketing efforts since 2003 and has worked with Tire Pros since 2009.

During the transition, Brown will remain engaged with Tire Pros through the year-end of 2016, ATD said

During Brown’s leadership, he built the Tire Pros network by more than tripling the franchises dealer count, ATD said.

Brown got his start in the tire industry in 1975 working as a route salesman for J.H. Heafner Co.’s Heafner Tire in Lincolnton, N.C. He worked his way up to become Heafner’s first marketing manager in 1976, director of marketing in 1988 and director of marketing and sales in 1990. Following several acquisitions, Brown also served as president of California-based Winston Tire Co. and Competition Parts Warehouse (CPW) in San Jose, Calif.

Brown joined ATD as senior vice president of sales and marketing in 1997 and served as ATD senior vice president of procurement from March 2001-2008. He then transitioned to executive vice president of sales and in December 2010, he was named executive vice president and president of Tire Pros.
