Tire Pros hosted 48 “Think Tank Discussions” across the United States to support its dealers’ businesses. More than 275 Tire Pros franchise owners attended the first round of sessions titled “Acquisition and Retention of Quality Employees.”
The Think Tanks are small localized dealer-led roundtables meetings centered on operational topics and concerns faced by owners on a daily basis, Tire Pros said. The goal is to bring together dealers to discuss their practices and learn from each other.
“As we are growing up, we are told not to cheat off our neighbor’s paper but, later in life, some of our greatest successes come from copying the right answer from our neighbor,” said Wes Stephenson, vice president of Tire Pros operations. “During my years as a franchisee, I always valued the input from other dealers more than what I learned from the franchise system. I believe there is a tendency to be more attentive to what our peers are doing and to what they have to say.”
During the most recent Think Tank dealers discussed and shared recruiting and hiring practices as well as interview techniques and talent development.
“I took more away from the six hour Think Tank Discussion I attended than some two-day seminars I have attended in the past,” shared Steven Moss, owner of Wilson Tire Pros in Elon, N.C.
Tire Pros plans on hosting 48 additional Think Tank Discussion in the fall. Topics for these sessions have not yet been set, according the organization.
