Following the news that the Sharonville, Ohio,-based tire business expects to continue opening 12 new stores annually for the next seven-plus years, Tire Discounters has named Patrick Mathews the chief financial officer for Tire Discounters Inc.
“As Tire Discounters moves forward with plans to open 12 new stores and remodel many existing stores over the course of the next 12 months, it’s important that we have the right management infrastructure in place to support this expansion. Mr. Mathews has extensive experience guiding companies’ expansion efforts and will bring immense value and help fuel continued growth for Tire Discounters,” said Paul Brunner, president and CEO of Tire Discounters. “Pat’s the right executive at the right time for Tire Discounters and we’re delighted to add him to our management team.”
Mathews is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and began his career as a staff tax accountant for the Castellini Co., one of the largest distributors of fresh produce in the United States, before moving into public accounting with Deloitte & Touche in Cincinnati, Ohio. Subsequently, Mathews has held chief financial officer and senior management positions for many closely held (public and private) businesses, and consulted with dozens of companies for enhancing enterprise resource planning systems and streamlining operations, including Barnes & Noble, Duke Energy, First Energy, Siemens, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin and Fifth Third Bank, among others.
Mathews is a graduate of Xavier University. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and Ohio Society of CPAs. He has also served on many local boards in the Cincinnati area.
