A Mexican national has been arrested and charged with murder for allegedly shooting a La Poloma, Texas, tire dealership employee on Jan. 25.
Cameron County Sheriff deputies and San Benito police arrested the 23-year-old man when he reportedly turned himself in, and he is being held on $500,000 bail.
Jose Guadalupe Garza, 44, was working at the tire shop on the afternoon of Jan. 25 when he was fatally shot in the chest. He was transported to a hospital, but he died that evening.
Police said the suspect and Garza may have had an argument prior to the shooting, possibly over an unpaid $10,000 tire bill. Police said they recovered casings from a 9-millimeter weapon at the scene.
