The Tire Industry Association’s Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) has issued best management practices intended to provide steps that tire and battery automotive service facilities should undertake to minimize their impact on stormwater runoff.
Stormwater is the precipitation that accumulates on the tire and battery automotive service facility’s property. Stormwater systems normally flow directly to a creek, river or lake without treatment.
“Stormwater runoff from parking areas can carry oils and greases, antifreeze, particulates, litter, and other automotive materials associated with vehicles. By keeping your facility litter free, cleaning up spills immediately and following the other suggestions in this best management practice, you can do your part to help keep our waterways clean,” said Dick Gust, TIA board member and EAC co-chair.
