The Tire Industry Association will host a Certified Automotive Tire Service (ATS) Advanced Instructor Training Course for women only.
The course, set for Oct. 6-9 at ISN Phoenix Conference and Training Center in Phoenix, Ariz., marks the first time TIA has held a training course specifically for female tire professionals.
“One of my goals as president of TIA is to showcase the opportunities that are available to women in our industry,” said TIA president Freda Pratt-Boyer. “Currently, only a very small percentage of TIA-certified ATS technicians are female and through this course, we hope to increase those numbers. Course participants will also have an opportunity to network with other women in the industry.”
The program is a four-day, in-depth classroom and hands-on class that industry professionals must successfully complete in order to return to the dealership(s) to train technicians to prepare them for certification. TIA said it has used the train-the-trainer approach to train and/or certify more than 93,000 technicians since 1997. Training includes safety guidelines and step-by-step procedures for all aspects of passenger and light truck tire service, including wheel installation with the proper torque, tire repair and TPMS.
