Greg Cooper, an 18-year veteran of Goodyear’s Danville, Va., plant, died in an accident at the facility on April 12.
This is the second death at the tiremaker’s facility this month and third since September 2015. Goodyear has closed the plant temporarily to conduct a full investigation and evaluation, according to local media.
“Our immediate priority is to provide support and assistance to Greg’s family, as well as the entire team of associates in the Danville plant as we cope with the loss of a teammate,” Goodyear said in a statement. “We have temporarily closed the plant to allow us to work with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the local authorities to fully investigate the incident and to give our associates some time to grieve.
“Our hearts go out to Greg’s family, friends and co-workers.”
