Well-organized thieves broke into a tire dealership in Silver Spring Township, Pa., over the weekend and stole some $20,000 in medium truck tires.
According to police, before entering the building, the thieves cut the phone lines to Dice Tire Service, disabling the dealership’s alarm system. From there, the thieves cut a hole in the building’s wall, broke out a window and took a door off its hinges before taking 80 medium truck radials.
According to reports, Dice Tire owner Keith Fisher had been warned that thieves were targeting similar businesses and that he needed to upgrade his alarm system.
Similar crimes have plagued the area over the past two years. According to reports, thieves struck Highland Tire in Middlesex Township this past July by prying their way into the side of a metal building. They stole about $70,000 worth of truck tires, and the phone lines were cut during that break-in. In December 2008, Service Tire in Lower Paxton Township was hit for about $35,000 worth of tires. A hole was cut in the side of the building, as well.
