The country’s largest independent tire dealer, Discount Tire, has opened its first store in Alabama to meet demand in the state. Located in Madison at 8042 Highway 72 West, the store marks the 11th state for new business and the 34th state that Discount Tire serves.

Michelin Expanding Tuscaloosa Warehouse

Michelin North America is increasing the warehouse capacity of its BFGoodrich plant in Tuscaloosa, Ala. “The expansion of the storage facility will help us further improve customer service, especially geographically in key BFGoodrich tire markets,” said Greg Leikvold, plant manager at the Tuscaloosa site. Fire Damages Alabama Tire Shop

Thomas Tire Shop near Birmingham, Ala., was damaged by a fire on the morning of Feb. 21, local media reports. The Birmingham Fire Department was called around 7 a.m. and fought the blaze for about an hour before the flames were put out. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Goodyear Gadsden Plant Expanding, Adding Jobs

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. plans to hire 87 new workers as part of the company’s 7,500-square-foot expansion of its Gadsden, Ala., tire plant, according to reports.
