As a division of the Stamford Tyres group of companies, Sumo will be using the show to further enhance the company’s Firenza brand in the European market and an extensive collection of truck tyres will be on display for inspection by both existing and potential new customers.
The Firenza truck range consists of six different patterns with the Firenza SSR05 and Firenza SSR05A tyres both being available for steer and trailer applications. Both patterns offer a wider tread and flat profile for high mileage and stable handling, and also provide a solid shoulder construction with zero angle steel band ply that protects against irregular wear. Both patterns present an additional special tread groove that resists stone retention and minimises casing damage.
The Firenza SSD08, SSM07 and SST07 are recommended for all driving positions and positional usage and provide a unique tread design for excellent traction in both wet and dry road conditions with the SSD08 also offering a wider tread and tough compound for extensive mileage performance for on-highway use. At the same time the SST07 includes a stone ejector in all grooves to eliminate casing damage.
The final Firenza truck pattern is the recently introduced SSR055 for super singles in size 385/65R22.5 and Pat Berriman, senior vice president of sales and marketing, states, "Sumo’s range of radial truck tyres continues to grow and visitors to the stand will be able to discuss the individual merits of each pattern with experienced and knowledgeable personnel from Sumo."
Sumo will be launching its first high performance car tyre at the show, the Firenza ST-08 which boasts a low aspect ratio pattern to create balance in driving performance and a comfortable ride. The tyre also offers a number of additional benefits including noise-absorbing base compound, two way sipings and phase shifted pitching blocks to additionally minimise noise levels, excellent wet traction, two straight wide grooves for more effective water drainage as well as tight shoulder blocks to enhance road holding on corners.
Berriman concludes, "The arrival of Sumo’s first high performance tyre announces the company’s firm intention to enter this highly competitive sector of the market with a quality product that has been built around the three main and essential requirements of a modern car tyre ‘performance, silence and comfort.’"
