New England dealer Sullivan Tire presented a $20,000 check to the WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, part of its “Every Hit Helps” summer promotion.
The 11th annual Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon (Aug. 21-22) raised more than $3.3 million to support adult and pediatric care and cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
The dealer’s summer promotion began on July 16 and ran until Aug. 10. During that time, Sullivan Tire agreed to donate $500 to the WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Telethon for every hit Dustin Pedroia got, and increased that amount to $1,000 for each home run hit by Pedroia. By the end of that time frame, Pedroia had 26 hits, three of which were home runs. This led to a total of $14,500, but Sullivan Tire decided to round up so the final donation was $20,000.
“We are thrilled to have been able to donate to this incredible charity,” said Paul Sullivan, Sullivan Tire’s marketing vice president. “Nothing pleases us more than to give back to the community through an organization that helps such a worthwhile cause.”
