Philippe Daneels, founder and president of the Belgium-headquartered tire company, said Solideal, which laid off 1,100 workers recently, might slash more jobs as it expects a 5% reduction in global exports in 2009. The company had a workforce of 8,100 before it started downsizing.
Daneels has said the company is also exploring an expansion into India. At present, Solideal is looking for distributors in India for its exclusive range of products. “We are also considering the setting up of a manufacturing base in India for solid tires.” (Tire Review/Akron)
