A tire dealership owner and employee in Williamson County, Texas, have been charged with tampering related to an alleged emission testing scheme at Josh’s Used Tires and Wheels.
Authorities claim the shop’s owner knew a customer’s vehicle would not pass inspection, but he told his worker to test a second vehicle, entering the customer’s vehicle ID number into the state system with that test.
According to police, the shop’s owner is being charged with felony tampering with a government document, and the employee faces two counts of tampering. The Department of Public Safety is leading the investigation.
The owner of the shop previously had two felony theft charges brought against him. In those cases he is accused of painting vehicle parts that need replacement and claiming they were new.
