The bill, originally introduced in November 2005, would enable businesses and trade associations to offer affordable heath insurance to their employees.
Sponsored by Sen. Mike Enzi (R-MT), S. 1955 would allow small businesses from different states to purchase health insurance jointly, thus reducing healthcare costs by 12%, or as much as $1,000 per employee. S. 1955 would also reduce the number of uninsured workers by 8% or about 1 million people per year, according to ASA.
