Rösler Launches Tire Sensor for Mining Operations

Intread-RSGermany-based OTR tire specialist Rösler has announced the launch of its TPMS system called Intread Tyre Sensor. Rösler released the system after three years of development and testing. Intread is designed for mining fleet operators and is able to measure the tread depth and belt temperature of tires.

The Intread system consists of two sensors: an air pressure and air temperature measurement sensor which is placed at the innerliner of the tire and a tread sensor which is placed in the tread to measure the tread depth and the belt temperature. The tread sensor is made out of rubber and wears down with the tread of the tire. Furthermore a PDA Communication Center is mounted in the cabin of the truck which shows the driver the current status of the tires and transmits data.

Ronny Dietsch, technical sales manager at Rösler, said, “With the Intread Tyre Sensor you can sit in your office and check live your wear rates and the tread depth status of your entire fleet at any of your mines around the world. Just imagine how easy it becomes for mining companies to do their demand forecasts, wear rate analysis, stock planning or generate their stats.”

If you could boil this year's Continental Tire GOLD member meeting into one takeaway, it's that the tire manufacturer is putting a whole lot of effort into listening and responding to its dealer base. Continental doesn't own company stores, so building a strong value proposition around the company's brands and products with its distributors and retailers is the most effective path to success. To maximize the mutual benefits of this partnership, Continental leadership says acting on the will of its dealer base – whether that's about product, programs, distribution, or anything else – is paramount.
