Towns, one of the bill’s 88 co-sponsors, joined forces with Sanchez to ensure that minority-owned auto repair shops, specifically, are able to operate effectively and continue to provide service to consumers.
The letter explained that, without passage of the bill, independent and minority-owned shops will have problems accessing repair information and will have to send their customers to car dealerships.
“Right to Repair Act puts automakers on notice that we expect a fair marketplace and competition to help motoring consumers and assure a fair playing field for independent and minority repair shops,” the letter stated. The bill will also help independent repair shops rebuild in states that were devastated by natural disasters, according to the letter.
