Reports have emerged that Bridgestone Americas may be looking to move its corporate headquarters to new digs in downtown Nashville.
The story was first reported yesterday by The Tennessean and later covered by the Nashville Business Journal.
According to The Tennessean report, Bridgestone “is said to be looking for 400,000 square feet” of office space in a built-to-suit office structure in the city’s central business district. Specific areas mentioned include a possible office tower adjacent to the city’s recently opened new convention center, and at the redeveloped Nashville Convention Center.
Both of those locations book-end the Bridgestone Arena, the home of the Nashville Predators and dozens of entertainment acts. In addition, that downtown location gives the company greater access to potential employees north and west of the city proper.
Another skyscraper project nearby and an office building area south of downtown, in Brentwood, Tenn., have also been mentioned.
Bridgestone said that the lease on its current headquarters at the Highland Ridge Tower near the Nashville International Airport ends in 2017. It occupies some 90% of the 282,100-square-foot building, owned by Gaedeke Group of Dallas.
For its part, the company has neither confirmed or denied the report, issuing the following statement:
“Bridgestone Americas is a large and diversified company, and we are constantly looking at how to grow our businesses and foster a premier place to work. Currently, we are committed to our Nashville headquarters with a lease that ends in 2017…we continue to invest in our current location to provide the best environment for around 1,000 Nashville-based teammates. Potential changes, if any, we might consider would be communicated first to our teammates and would be implemented several years down the road.”
