The owners of 106 Street Tire & Wheel in Queens, N.Y., have hung a massive, hand-stitched Argentinian flag banner to showcase their support of their heritage during the World Cup.
“Everyone is focused on the World Cup in this part of the city,” Christian Lucero, who owns 106 Street Tire & Wheel with his Argentinian father, told NY Daily News. “The sport has taken such a turn in its popularity here.”
Eli Rosenberg Santiago Lucero and his son Christian have traditionally hung the giant flag since 2004, when owners of a neighboring restaurant flew a Colombian flag outside their business during an international tournament.
The banner reads “I don’t regret this love” in Spanish, which is a slogan typically sung by Argentina’s fan at the team’s matches. It covers two sides of the store’s building.
