PT. Gajah Tunggal Tbk, a manufacturer of Primewall, Dextero, and GT Radial tires, has decided to voluntarily recall certain tire sizes.
GITI Tire (USA), as importer and distributor of these tires will assist PT with the recall.
“Safety of our customers is our top priority. Despite the very low number of subject tire claims reported, PT. Gajah Tunggal Tbk has initiated this first voluntary tire recall for the North American market to further the safety of the driving public,” said William Estupinan, vice president of technical service and compliance for GITI Tire (USA) Ltd.
Approximately 250,620 tires in five sizes of Primewall Valera Touring II, three sizes of Dextero Touring DTR1 and five GT Radial Champiro Touring A/S tires are being recalled.
According to the voluntary recall, affected tires have an anomaly which could lead to a crack in the lower sidewall of the tire and could result in loss of tire air pressure, making the vehicle more difficult to maneuver and potentially unsafe.
Owners of any subject tires, as well as distributor and dealers will be notified for inspection and replacement at no cost.
