An employee at Pirelli Tire North America’s plant lost his arm in a work-related accident, according to local reports.
A 27-year-old male worker caught his arm in a machine used to process rubber pulling him into the machine, according to Rome-Floyd fire chief. The incident cased the complete amputation of his arm from the elbow down.
The man was taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment before being transferred to Erlanger in Chattanooga, Tenn. Pirelli has yet to release the injured man’s name, but is investigating the incident internally. The tiremaker will provide a proper statement with details upon the completion of the investigation.
