Pete’s Tire Barns opened its new “green” tire store in West Chesterfield, N.H., with an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony Friday, August 8.
The 12,000-square-foot sales and service center incorporates “green” technologies such as geothermal heating and cooling, which allows the temperature to be controlled without the use of fossil fuels. The building also features long-life LED light fixtures that automatically dim to save energy. The light fixtures monitor the available natural light and only come on bright enough to supplement it.
Pete’s Tire Barns notes that future plans for the building include solar panels, solartube lighting and waste heat recapture to heat domestic hot water. The location will also feature a propane powered tire service truck.
“This building was designed from the ground up to be energy net plus, meaning eventually we will produce more power then we consume,” said Pete’s Tire Barns President Peter Gerry.
The new location features four passenger and light truck tire service bays, three commercial tire service bays and a heavy-duty alignment machine.
