In Auto Bild’s recent annual “Winter Tire Test Competition,” the German autoparts company invited more than 15 parts developers to submit their best products for investigation and testing.

The Nokian WR D3 and WR SUV 3 (equivalent North American products are the all-weather WR G3 and WR G3 SUV tires) were named among the best in show in the passenger and SUV Tire categories.

Testers specifically praised the tires’ safe driving behavior, short braking distances, powerful traction and fast handling on snow during testing, according to Nokian.

“Our excellent success in tests proofs of our unique expertise in developing even safer winter tires for demanding and varying winter weather,” said Juha Pirhonen, product development manager for Nokian Tires. “The new innovations can be felt and seen in the everyday lives of all road users.”
