Nokian Tyres North America has acquired the tire distribution business from Import Tire Inc. in Glastonbury, Conn. Import Tire has a turnover of roughly $10 million.
Nokian owns 10 retail stores in New England under its store Vianor brand. Import Tire Inc. is primarily wholesale with a single location business unit in the New England region. The tiremaker says that the region is an important winter tire market for Nokian Tyres.
“This deal enables us to improve our service level substantially and be closer to our customers,” says Mr. Tommi Heinonen, general manager of Nokian Tyres North America.
The acquisition gives Nokian Tyres North America control of the 50,000-tire warehouse, acquires the customer base as well as the machinery and equipment from Import Tire Inc.
