Nitto Unveils New Interactive Tire Selector

Nitto Tire launched its new interactive tire selector, available on the tiremaker’s website at Unlike traditional vehicle look-up programs, where the recommendations are only generated from vehicle application and tire sizes, Nitto’s new system helps consumers find the right tire based on both their vehicle and their driving preferences, using a plus-size guide and driving condition filters, the company said.
“When we looked at other tire look-up programs, many didn’t give the consumer enough product information to make an educated decision,” said Stephen Leu, a marketing representative at Nitto Tire. “We want our new tool to enable and assist our consumers to select the right product.”
After consumers have picked a vehicle, they are presented with a list of tire sizes and styles that fit their selected vehicle. Users can choose both factory replacement and plus-size rim fitments to filter the size listing. The system also includes a panel of driving condition and tire attribute icons, such as dry performance, ride comfort and treadlife. The consumer can pick one or several of these icons and set the order of their importance. With each mouse click, the tire list animates and re-orders itself based on the user’s preferences.

“The system was also designed with a consumer’s individual driving experience in mind,“ said Efrain Viveros, senior staff engineer at Nitto Tire. “Based on the user’s inputs for performance requirements and their priorities, the system will show tires with the proper vehicle application that will fit the condition in which they are used. If the consumer is looking for a competition tire or a tire oriented for off-roading, the system will only show the tires that are capable and designed for those specific uses.”
In addition to finding tires by vehicle, users can also enter a tire size, or sizes in the case of staggered applications, to see results. The user can then filter the results using the same driving and tire attribute filters, the tiremaker said.
