NHTSA Tire Study Results Due Tomorrow

(Akron/Tire Review) A tire fuel efficiency study authorized by NHTSA has concluded, and the results are supposed to be announced Apr. 4 by the National Academy of Science, which NHTSA assigned to conduct the survey.

The study, which began in December 2004, was supposed to consider the interrelationship between tire performance characteristics and rolling resistance, with an eye to potentially mandating more fuel-efficient replacement tires.
