New Raybestos R-300 Performance Rotor From Affinia

Affinia said its new Raybestos brand R-300 Performance Rotor improved pedal feel, lasting rust prevention and increased pad life.

The "S-Groove" slot design provides better pad to rotor contact to improve pedal feel and reduce brake fade. Since this design also improves out-gassing, the S-Groove slots can also increase pad life by up to 30%, according to the company.

“You can really feel the benefit of the new S-Groove slot design,” said Georgianne Dickey, Raybestos brand marketing manager. “Drivers experience stronger bite without having to sacrifice smooth braking.”

According to Affinia, brake fade is reduced due to improved out-gassing, and the rotor delivers superior “panic-stop” braking thanks to its high-flow, clog-resistant vane design. The rotor also is less prone to cracking; a problem that takes place on traditional drilled rotor designs. The rotor’s high-carbon damped iron metallurgy has a better rate of thermal conductivity to drastically improve heat dispersion to cancel vibration.

In addition, the R-300 rotor incorporates two corrosion-resistant coatings formulated for optimal cooling and premium rust protection, according to the maker. The protective Black Fusion coating is applied to every rotor hat to prevent premature rusting. The corrosion-resistant Grey Fusion coating is proven to withstand more than 300 hours of saltwater exposure. It also ensures the rotor edges and vanes remain clear of rust for optimal airflow and cooling, Affinia said.

If you could boil this year's Continental Tire GOLD member meeting into one takeaway, it's that the tire manufacturer is putting a whole lot of effort into listening and responding to its dealer base. Continental doesn't own company stores, so building a strong value proposition around the company's brands and products with its distributors and retailers is the most effective path to success. To maximize the mutual benefits of this partnership, Continental leadership says acting on the will of its dealer base – whether that's about product, programs, distribution, or anything else – is paramount.
