New Michelin X-Ice Xi2 Promises Traction, Treadwear and Fuel Economy - Tire Review Magazine

New Michelin X-Ice Xi2 Promises Traction, Treadwear and Fuel Economy

Earlier this week, Michelin North America introduced its next generation of winter tires with Michelin X-Ice Xi2, which promises longer tread life and improved fuel economy without compromising winter traction.

The tire was unveiled during a special media event at Mont-Tremblant in Quebec.

“With this new generation, the Michelin Xi2 tire, is raising the bar even higher,” said Normand Latremouille, MNA’s winter category manager. “The Michelin X-Ice Xi2 lasts up to 75% longer than its leading competitor. The longer wear life is in addition to maintaining other top tire performances such as handling and traction.”

MNA said it tested the new X-Ice Xi2 against the Bridgestone Blizzak WS60.

The X-Ice Xi2’s tread features an advanced block design and Michelin’s FleX-Ice rubber silica-based compound for braking, traction and cornering on ice, snow, slush and water.

In addition, the tire has a low rolling resistance tread for improved fuel efficiency, said Michelin.

The tire will be available across the U.S. and Canada in the fall with 42 sizes covering 13- through 18-inch wheel diameters. (Tire Review/Akron)
