The Prineville, Ore.-based tire retailer and wholesaler reached an agreement with the city of Bend, Ore., to buy 12 acres of land in the city’s Juniper Ridge development to build a 120,000-square foot headquarters facility. Some 350 workers will transfer to the new facility when it opens in 2008, with 800 staying at the Prineville facility where the company will retain retreading, warehousing and distribution operations.
Les Schwab’s board of directors also appointed Dick Borgman as the company’s new CEO. Borgman, 51, was previously the president of Les Schwab Holding Company Division.
“Dick worked closely with Les and me for the last 16 years,” said Phil Wick, company chairman. “Both the board and the Schwab family have complete confidence that he is the right person to lead the company over the next phase of continued growth and expansion.”
