State and local governments have been working for months on a project that will build a to-spec headquarters facility for Goodyear’s 3,000-person staff, turning the tiremaker’s 80-year-old facility over to a developer that will convert the space into retail and office space.
Ohio’s Development Financing Advisory Council and the Ohio Tax Credit Authority will meet Dec. 3 on a financing package for the project. The company is also slated to hold a regularly scheduled board of directors meeting that day, and it is expected that the board will vote to accept the financing package.
Goodyear has remained quiet but hopeful that the project would come together. Details on the financing deal are expected to be released today.
According to reports, the new headquarters would be built adjacent to Goodyear’s existing technical center. A specific construction timetable has not been released. (Tire Review/Akron)
