MNA Employees Donate $10,000 to Red Cross

(Akron/Tire Review) Employees at Michelin North America’s (MNA) Sandy Springs, S.C. and Starr, S.C., tire component plants gave up a free lunch and instead donated $10,000 to the American Red Cross for its hurricane relief efforts.

A $10,000 check was presented to Ann Wright, CEO of the Upstate S.C. chapter of the American Red Cross. Anderson Mayor Richard Shirley was also present for the presentation. Mayor Shirley is the chairman of the Anderson Chapter of the American Red Cross.

“In October, our Anderson County facilities set new records for production and quality. As a reward for their outstanding achievement, we planned a celebration lunch for all of our 900-plus employees,” said Monty Rigsby, plant manager for the facilities. “The employees insisted that we forego the free meals and instead, donate the money to the American Red Cross to assist those impacted by the devastation of the recent hurricanes.”
