Missouri Association Helping Tornado Victims, Needs Your Support

The Missouri Tire Industry Association has established the MTIA Joplin Tornado Relief Fund, and has dedicated proceeds from two golf events to that fund.

The relief fund will help member dealer employees devastated by the recent tornados that tore through the city, killing more than 140 people.

The first event, the MTIA Eastern Chapter Charity Golf Tournament, had 48 players and raised $2,200 for the fund. The MTIA board voted to include money that will be raised at the annual MTIA Convention and Charity Golf Tournament, set for Aug. 12-13.

The MTIA said it also will accept other donations for the fund, which will be disbursed to six dealer employee families in Joplin.

The MTIA is seeking hole sponsors or direct donations, which can be made to the MTIA Joplin Tornado Relief Fund, P.O. Box 609, St. Charles, MO 63301.

According to executive director Ron Reiling, the MTIA has “already received donations and pledges for around $3,500. This is what MTIA is all about, bringing tire dealers together in good times and bad. It is great to see the MTIA members stepping up to support their peers in a time of need.”
