Mid-Atlantic Tire Pros in Easton, Mass., exceeded the number of coats it expected to collect for its Annual Arlene M. John Koats for Kids drive, donating more than 450 coats to the Neighborhood Service Center, according to the tire business.
According to Mid-Atlantic, this donation brings the total number of coats collected over the past eight years to 3,400 coats.
This year, Kohls, WCEI/WINX, the Star-Democrat, Crackerjacks, and Pixel Print and Post, partnered with Mid-Atlantic for the coat drive. Maryland dry cleaning company Admiral Cleaners cleaned the used coats and delivered them.
“We are pleased that our Koats for Kids drive has grown to be so successful over the years. The event has really become a community collaboration,” said Terry John, owner of Mid-Atlantic Tire Pros.
The drive began in 2007 in honor of Terry’s wife Arlene. To date, coats have been donated to children through the Neighborhood Service Center, Operation Christmas Spirit, the Easton Volunteer Fire Department, and Easton Middle School.
