Michelin North America will suspend operations at its earthmover plant in Starr, S.C., at the end of 2015.
The tiremaker chose to shutter plant operations due to market conditions, Michelin said.
Roughly 100 employees will be affected by the closure. All of the employees were offered positions at Michelin’s other nearby factories, the tiremaker said.
A spokesperson told Tire Review “the plant and its equipment will be maintained so that operations can restart in a timely manner when market conditions improve and customer demand increases.”
Earthmover tires will still be produced at other Michelin factories, including one in Lexington, S.C.
