Michelin North America Inc.’s truck tire division has launched a new pre-mold retread – the Michelin X One XZU S+ Pre-Mold – for wide-base single tires on waste and refuse trucks.
“With the demanding conditions in urban areas, waste and refuse customers are looking for retreads that can handle these punishing conditions and reduce their cost-per-hour,” said Adam Murphy, vice president of marketing for Michelin Americas Truck Tires. “The new MICHELIN X ONE XZU S+ Pre-Mold retread exceeds those demands with incredible wear life, even when trucks are continuously starting, stopping and turning as they pick up waste in city areas.”
The new retread delivers up to 50% greater wear life than its predecessor, the X One XZU S Pre-Mold, and features a winged tread for maximum shoulder protection in high-scrub applications.
Additionally, the retread features a 29/32-inch tread depth, a straight rib design, and Co-Extrusion technology and a two-layer compound to minimize the casing temperature for enhanced durability, the tiremaker adds.
