Groupe Michelin plans to push truck tire radialization to grow its own business in India.
According to the Financial Chronicle, as Michelin launches its new truck tire plant near Chennai later this year, the tiremaker wants to "contribute to the shift towards radialization and is committed to ensuring the improvement of Indian mobility in the long term."
According to Michelin, the truck tire radialization rate in India was 14.5% in 2010, “and we feel that this rate will go up to 50% by 2020. The potential is massive and we wish to be a part of this growth,” Abhijit Bakre, marketing manager for Michelin India, told the Financial Chronicle.
“OEMs are realizing the positive impact of radialization and are committing to the use of radial tires. The replacement market is also growing at a steady pace,” he continued.
