Michelin North America has won two 2011 "Top 100" Awards from Construction Equipment magazine for its XDR2 and XHA2 earthmover tires.
"Construction Equipment is a well-respected, top publication in the construction industry,” said Bruce Besancon, director of marketing for Michelin’s Earthmover Tires division. “Recognizing the XDR2 and XHA2 tires with these awards affirms the value that these tires provide to the end user.”
The awards bring attention to the most significant products each year and emphasize innovations, highlighting manufacturers who are investing in research and development, MNA said. The winners were chosen by the editorial staff from several hundred product introductions, drawing on input from readers and the editorial staff’s experience with equipment technology and the equipment marketplace.
According to the tiremaker, the XDR2 haul truck tire offers up to 20% more tread life than its predecessor, the Michelin XDR tire. Introduced at ConExpo-Con/Agg in March, the XDR2 tire is available in a 27R49 size. Additional sizes will be available in 2012.
The XHA2 loader tire is designed to accomplish three goals: reduce hourly operating costs; ensure that work continues smoothly and safely; and improve operator working conditions, MNA said. The tire is intended for loaders in quarries, cement plants and on construction worksites. It is available in sizes 20.5R25, 23.5R25, 26.5R25 and 29.5R25.
