A few weeks ago, a truck tire exploded and killed a tire tech at a suburban St. Louis tire dealership. The shop has set up a memorial fund to help the 29-year-old’s struggling family.
Robert "Hank" Williams died on Jan. 29, two days after a tire he was repairing at Best Auto Inc. in Arnold, Mo., blew up in his face. The man was the primary source of income for his parents and siblings.
Best Auto owner Jerel Poor has set up a memorial fund at a local bank to help the family make ends meet until Williams’ father, an out of work and injured roofer, can get back to work.
“We miss him,” Poor told a local TV station. “He was a real kind individual. A wonderful person, everybody loved him. He was the type of person you couldn’t help but like.”
Poor has put a donation jar on the counter of his store, and a local church has changed its Valentine’s Day dance into a fundraiser. Poor also has established a memorial account at three Southern Commercial Bank branches in the St. Louis area.
