The former Tirecraft Auto Centre, which has been closed since June 25, reopened its doors on July 2 under a new name Kal Tire.
"The Tirecraft company went into receivership, and now we have joined forces with the Kal Tire group of stores," explained Gerry Senecal, manager of the new Kal Tire in Portage. "We feel that it was the best thing for all our customers and our staff."
The store, located on Highway 1A West, first closed its doors on the morning of June 13, but had since reopened because the Tirecraft Group of Companies told Senecal that the national chain had gone into receivership. It turned out the company had not gone into receivership and would be going out of business.
Senecal, who has owned the tire store since 1985, said he is happy to change company colours, and added all the same staff will be working at the store under its new name. (Tire Review/Akron)
