Live at SEMA: Cooper Takes Two Product Awards

Cooper Tire said it earned a Global Media Award at the 2013 SEMA Show/Global Tire Expo for introducing the new Mastercraft Courser MXT at the show.

In addition, the Cooper Zeon RS3-S tire (size 325/30R19) was named a runner-up in the New Products Showcase in the Tire and Related Product category.

The Global Media Awards are chosen from a panel of top automotive journalists from 15 countries throughout Asia, Europe, South Africa and South America and are based on the level of customer appeal within each journalist’s respective country, the tiremaker said. The New Products Showcase awards recognize the most cutting-edge automotive products either on the market or available for shipment.

“To be recognized with product awards for the Courser MXT and the RS3-S is an incredible accolade,” said Scott Jamieson, Cooper’s director of product management. “These awards recognize the proven and innovative technology that goes into every tire we make. The RS3-S provides a great choice for C6 Corvette owners with its wide design, while the Courser MXT is an extreme off-road mud terrain tire that is perfect for light truck owners and extreme off-roaders.”

The Courser MXT, for extreme off-roading performance, features a deep, functional “side biter” design that enables the tire to propel through the toughest off-road conditions with improved maximum traction, according to Cooper, which added that the tire is pinned for studs and offers strategically placed sipes for better grip on wet surfaces and in icy conditions.

The Cooper Zeon RS3-S UHP summer tire combines world-class dry road traction, handling and cornering with outstanding appearance, the tiremaker said, adding the tire’s tread compounds are specifically formulated to combine dry and wet traction with crisp handling and high speed capabilities.

If you could boil this year's Continental Tire GOLD member meeting into one takeaway, it's that the tire manufacturer is putting a whole lot of effort into listening and responding to its dealer base. Continental doesn't own company stores, so building a strong value proposition around the company's brands and products with its distributors and retailers is the most effective path to success. To maximize the mutual benefits of this partnership, Continental leadership says acting on the will of its dealer base – whether that's about product, programs, distribution, or anything else – is paramount.
