Henry Biedrzycki, of Charlotte, N.C., was named the winner of the 2011 Continental Tire Dream Giveaway. At its SEMA Show booth Tuesday, Continental handed Biedrzycki the keys to a pair of matching Porsche vehicles the 2011 Hurley Haywood Edition Porsche 911 GT3, and a 2011 Porsche Cayenne S. Hybrid.
Biedrzycki entered the 2011 Continental Tire Dream Giveaway on two separate occasions, each time making a $100 tax-deductible donation. Over 54,000 individuals entered the giveaway, which garnered over $200,000 in net proceeds.
Continental presented the money two beneficiaries, WorldCause Foundation and Camp Boggy Creek, at the award ceremony. WorldCause Foundation is a humanitarian organization and Camp Boggy Creek is a year-round medical camp for children and a member of the Association of Hole In The Wall Camps co-founded by actor/philanthropist Paul Newman and General H. Norman Schwartzkoph. Camp Boggy Creek is also the charity of choice for Grand-Am Road Racing.
“This is the most exciting day of my life!” Biedrzycki said. “When I bought the tickets I obviously loved the Porsche vehicles but I also saw this was helping benefit Camp Boggy Creek and I thought, what a great organization. I will definitely continue to support Camp Boggy Creek in the future.”
And in a move that was a complete surprise to Continental, at the event Biedrzycki, along with his wife and three sons, presented a check for an additional $5,000 to support the cause.
“The Continental Tire Dream Giveaway was a great promotion for us,” said Travis Roffler, director of marketing, Continental Tire. “Anytime we can enhance a promotion with philanthropic efforts, it’s a win for everyone. I’m proud that Continental Tire was able to help raise monies for two great organizations such as WorldCause Foundation and Camp Boggy Creek.”
The winner’s package includes paying the IRS withholding requirement and a personal driving lesson with Hurley Haywood, Motorsports Hall of Famer and the most winning driver in the history of the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.
