Kumho Joins RubberNetwork as 10th Member

(Akron/Tire Review) South Korea’s Kumho Tire Co. has become the 10th member of RubberNetwork, a consortium of tire and rubber companies created to reduce purchasing and operational costs.

RubberNetwork aolso said it will open an office in Seoul, South Korea, immediately, its sixth international location.  

"Adding Seoul to our existing RubberNetwork offices in Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo provides comprehensive support and coverage for all our Members with operations in Asia,” said Brian Selby, vice president of Asia for RubberNetwork.

RubberNetwork was formed in 2000 to address rising raw material costs by consolidating purchasing. The company is owned by its members, including Goodyear, Michelin, Pirelli, Continental, Cooper, Hankook, Toyo, Sumitomo and Yokohama. It has since expanded its scope to include supply chain management and performance benchmarking, and includes a South American partner company, Webb Negocios, headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
