On Jan. 2, Kumho Tire Co. in South Korea announced the domestic market launch of its first self-sealing tire.
The company’s ‘K-Seal’ technology has been introduced on the Kumho Majesty Solus range and is available in three sizes 275/40ZR19 XL 105W, 245/45ZR19 XL 102W and 235/45ZR17 XL 97W. These tires are capable of self-sealing tread punctures of up to five millimeters in diameter.
It is thought the new tires will only be sold in the South Korean market for the time being.
In a Korean-language press statement, the tiremaker says that prices for tires equipped with K-Seal technology are around 30% higher than for an equivalent standard tire, and although self-sealing tires are approximately 10% heavier than standard tires, they offer the same level of performance and ride comfort.
