For the first time in years, TIA will host a keynote speaker at its annual convention and trade show. And it’s doubling down in Las Vegas with a pair of co-keynoters.
Albert Wynn, former congressman representing Maryland’s Fourth District, and Jack Van Steenburg, chief safety officer for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, will be giving their remarks during the Tire Industry Honors awards ceremony, slated for Monday, Oct. 29, at 6 p.m., prior to the start of the 2012 Global Tire Expo/SEMA Show.
During his 16 years as a congressman, Wynn was part of the House’s Energy and Commerce Committee, and sponsored the 2007 Energy Act, which included the still-to-be-delivered tire fuel efficiency testing and consumer information program. Currently, he practices law at Dickstein Shapiro, with a focus on legal and legislative counseling.
Before becoming CSO at FMCSA, Van Steenburg worked as director of FMCSA’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance since May of 2008, and has been involved in creating commercial vehicle safety initiatives while actively working to forge partnerships between government, law enforcement, safety associations and industry.
The Tire Industry Honors event will be held at the Cosmopolitan hotel and casino in Las Vegas. Admission is complimentary, but an RSVP is requested and can be made at tireindustry.org.
