Kentucky’s S&S Tire Buys Simms, Plots Growth

Lexington, Ky.-based S&S Tire acquired Simms Wholesale Tire, a wholesale tire distributor in Louisville, Ky.

The deal expands S&S Tire’s wholesale operation to 10 distribution centers across the southeastern U.S.

“The acquisition of Simms Wholesale Tire was a strategic opportunity for us,” said Brooks Swentzel, president of S&S Tire. “It will enable us to grow our business in the Louisville metro area with excellent service levels that would be more challenging to achieve from our facility in Lexington.”

“Our immediate priority will be to make sure that Simms customers have a seamless transition and are welcomed into the S&S Tire family, where they will enjoy our full lineup of products and programs designed to support their business efforts,” said Brian Quisenberry, marketing director.

“We continue to look at other areas of interest for expansion, if we feel the potential is there for a positive impact,” said Swentzel. “We want to be the strongest regional player that we can be, so additional strategic acquisitions will be a part of our plan for moving forward.”

Founded in 1974, S&S Tire also operates nine retail tire stores, 17 commercial tire centers and three retread plants.
