The China Economic News Service reports two Taiwanese tiremakers will establish new factories next year.
Cheng Shin Rubber, manufacturer of the Maxxis tire brand, intends to set up a truck and bus radial plant by the end of 2012; the company signed an investment agreement with the Changhua County Government in 2009 to this effect, planning to invest NT$12 billion in the project.
CENS also reports that late in 2012 Kenda Rubber will start construction of a 25,000-tire per day plant that will focus on the manufacture passenger car tires; this facility will also be erected in Changhua. It is expected to enter service in 2014.
The Changhua County Government reports the total investment of the two plants will total NT$22 billion (£451 million) and create some 4,000 jobs. (Tyres & Accessories)
