Aviva Canada is offering existing customers in Ontario and Alberta who purchase winter tires a chance to receive a discount as part of a new promotional partnership with Kal Tire.
With winter driving just around the corner for many parts of the country, Aviva Canada is emphasizing the importance of vehicle safety through the partnership with Canada’s largest independent tire dealer, the insurer noted in a statement Tuesday.
“Each year, we see an almost 50% increase in auto collisions during the winter months,” reports Gerry De Lauro, vice president of marketing and web strategy for Aviva Canada, pointing out that “quality tires are a crucial part of a vehicle’s safety system.”
De Lauro says the partnership is meant to make safety more affordable for both Aviva Canada customers and brokers by providing them a $100 discount with the purchase of a select set of four winter tires (including Hakkapeliitta R or R2 Nordic winter tire or the WRG2 or WRG3, Nokian all-weather tire), or a $50 discount off a set of four alloy rims.
Among other tips, Aviva Canada and Kal Tire suggest the following for keeping safe on the road:
• Use snow tires since they allow drivers to stop as much as 40% faster than all-season tires;
• Drive slowly and keep a safe distance behind the vehicle in front;
• Ensure tires are in good condition (if uncertain, ask during the next vehicle check-up);
• Check wiper blades to ensure they are in good condition; and
• Pack an emergency kit – including a flashlight, blanket, snow shovel, extra windshield washer fluid and anti-freeze, hazard flares and booster cables – at the start of the season and stow it in the trunk.
Discounts are available between Sept. 16 and Nov. 30. To receive the discount, Aviva Canada’s existing customers should take their motor vehicle liability insurance cards or home insurance policy document into their local Kal Tire stores when they purchase tires.
