Jack Williams Buys Lehigh Tire

(Akron/Tire Review) Jack Williams Tire Co. has acquired Freemansburg, Pa.-based Lehigh Tire and Service Centers.

Lehigh Tire was founded in 1978 by Steve Grimes in 1978 and grew to include four retail stores throughout the Lehigh Valley area and a wholesale tire operation at its Freemansburg headquarters. Lehigh Tire joined the American Car Care Centers program in 2002; Jack Williams Tire served as its ACCC distributor.

 “We are committed to providing the same high quality service that Lehigh Tire is known for, and will add additional services and products through Jack Williams Tire,” said Bill Williams, chairman and CEO.

Former co-owners Steve Grimes and Hank Ensig have accepted management positions with Jack Williams Tire, and the new owner plans on employing all existing Lehigh Tire employees.

During Michelin’s Sustainability Summit held at the Sonoma Raceway in California, Michelin North America’s president and CEO, Alexis Garcin, explained how the company plans to reach its goal of manufacturing tires made from 40% renewable or recycled materials by 2030, and 100% renewable or recycled materials by 2050.

The company invited Tire Review to pepper members of its executive leadership team with questions regarding the future of sustainable tire manufacturing, the relationship between EVs and tire waste, what’s next for airless tire technology and even how Michelin automotive tires influence other tire verticals, like aviation tires.
