With a 6-0 vote, the U.S. International Trade Commission decried that steel truck wheels imported from China are not "materially" damaging for threatening U.S.-based steel wheel makers.
The April 17 ruling came despite an earlier finding by the U.S. Department of Commerce that China-made wheels were being sold at below fair market value and that those wheel producers were subsidized by the Chinese government.
In March 2011, wheel producers Accuride Corp. and Hayes Lemmerz International filed antidumping complaints seeking countervailing duties against the Chinese producers. With the ITC’s ruling, those investigations are now closed.
