Both products consist of “free-moving” steel particles houses within a flexible, thermoplastic cartridge, which is fixed to the wheel with an adhesive backing. The particles move and adjust to changing conditions as the tire rotates, targeting the exact location of the imbalance and correcting it, according to IMI.
“For customers that spin balance their wheels, XACTBalance Truck wheel weights deliver far superior performance over regular weights,” said Bob Fogal Jr., president of IMI. “And, for those who can’t put EQUAL in the tire and don’t use a spin balancer, XACTBalance 180s use the same self-adjusting balance technology and last the entire life of the wheel.”
XACTBalance Truck consists of twin thermoplastic chambers of steel particles, while XACTBalance 180s – for 22.5- to 24.5-inch truck wheels – consists of two sections of long thermoplastic cartridges that cover the interior diameter of each wheel.
“XACTBalance 180s is made with the owner-operator in mind,” said Fogal.
XACTBalance Truck wheel weights – available in six, four and two ounces – are currently available. XACTBalance 180s will be sold later this year through IMI’s distribution network and at truck stops and service centers.
