Ill. Dealer Expands by Purchasing Neighboring Shop

Douglas Automotive, based in Crystal Lake, Ill., has purchased Rick & Lou’s Service Inc., and will eventually relocate operations to the newly purchased facility.

By the end of the year, Douglas Automotive will move entirely into the new facility, which is just a couple blocks south of the company’s existing business. Douglas Automotive made the purchase after Rick & Lou’s owner Rick Price and his wife, Janet, decided to sell the business and retire.

Both Douglas Automotive, at 72188 Virginia Road, and Rick & Lou’s, at 5955 Virginia Road, will remain open for the next couple of weeks during the transition.

The move will nearly double Douglas Auto’ service bays from eight to 14 at the new location, and Douglas Auto will move more heavily into tire sales, picking up the Michelin, Goodrich and Uniroyal sales that Rick & Lou’s customers came to expect, according to local reports.

Douglas Auto also will honor all warranties on Rick & Lou’s work while bringing its own rental car service, six months same as cash program, and 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty.
